| During our three-week New Zealand Vacation in November 2006, we spent five days on the West Coast, in Glacier Country. We were scheduled to go on a helicopter-hike at Fox Glacier, however the cloudy weather prevented the adventure for two days in a row. Tim had initially planned to propose on the glacier… but the weather conspired against it (Besides, he decided later that it wouldn’t have been the perfect spot). After having the third heli-hike cancelled, we went for a hike to the Fox Glacier Chalet Lookout. It was a 45-minute hike, with several stream crossings, some rough trail, with light rain. We had the trail to ourselves. The lookout point was on a platform overlooking the Fox Glacier Valley and the terminal face of the glacier. After a big hug and lots of kisses, Tim got down on one knee and said "Emily, will you marry me?' Emily was so excited, she pulled Tim up with an enthusiastic "YES!" and a big kiss before Tim could even get the ring out. |
