Backpack to East Lake, Kings Canyon National Park, Sept 2009

We packed up Wednesday night, and had an easy start Thursday morning. We got to the trailhead @ Road's End just before the ranger left for the day. Our first day's hike took us 4 miles to Spinx Creek Campsite. The next day was 9-10 miles to East Lake, where we camped for the night. On the third morning, we day-hiked to Reflection Lake, 2 miles upstream of East Lake. A short cloudburst got us a little damp before we returned to camp for lunch. We stayed mostly dry on the 6-7 mile hike to the next camp at Charlotte Creek (we did have to take shelter under a tree for a short time). After an early start the next morning, we hiked out 8 miles and were back at the trailhead by 11:30am. On the drive back, we stopped to see the General Grant giant sequoia.
